Iceland, the land of fermented shark, and Bjork… or maybe the other way around. Iceland is known for many of its unique characteristics, from its colorful and open people to its rugged and rolling landscape known to be tricky in the wintertime.

I had the honor of travelling to Iceland, and gave myself the task of exploring authenticity within its capital city of Reykjavik, and in the highlands of the countryside. What I can say from my own experience is this: you couldn’t find a cooler place to escape the summer heat of the rest of the world, and enjoy some truly unique experiences while you do it. From waterfalls and delicate moss that grows over ten years on hardened volcanic rock in active lava fields, to some of the cities unique eats and seafood that is to die for, and downright artistic; Iceland is like nowhere else in the world, combining the ancient Norse culture and language with the modern Northern European lifestyle and design.

I have to admit after the last year and a half of seeing so little during the pandemic (and when I did see things they were nearby) the change was overtly welcome, and though it was the hottest days of Icelandic summer (about 65 Fahrenheit at its hottest) it was like an air conditioned spa to walk around in.
